9/23/2026 - To the Point: Featuring a new way to use the Offset from line tool

I recently had the opportunity to visit a customer’s jobsite, where we came away with a new way to use the Offset from line tool.

This week’s tip: Finding a specific distance along a line

We were dropping points for a new fence where stakes had been placed every 8' to mark each post location. We dropped a point at each stake so the crew could find those locations again after the stakes were removed for digging.

As we worked our way down the fence line, we noticed one stake was missing. Instead of heading back to the vehicle for a tape measure, we opened the Offset from line tool. Using two existing stake points to create our reference line, we followed the line and measured 8' to find where the missing stake should be.

It was a simple problem, but a great example of how SitePoint can save a few extra steps and a little time on the jobsite.
